In-house cytology uses micro-biology to determine and diagnose causes of acute and chronic ear and skin problems. DNA testing can be performed to determine avian gender or even canine breed. Black Dog

Dental Services

Does your pet have bad breath? It might be worth getting the vet to check their teeth. At Hinterland Vet Surgery we are able to remove, clean and scale teeth under a general anaesthetic.
We also have the use of a digital dental X-ray machine to produces and controls X-Ray to acquire teeth and jaw images by generating an X-Ray from high voltage electricity. Images are captured on a small digital sensor that is placed in the animals mouth. The captured images on the digital sensor are processed and displayed on a computer and used to determine and diagnose dental problems within the jaw.

Desexing

At Hinterland Vet Surgery, we recommend desexing your pet between the ages of 5 and 6 months. Desexing your dog or cat has many benefits including; preventing unwanted litters, scent marking, roaming and wandering, aggressive and dominant behaviour, ovarian, testicular and mammary tumours, to name a few.
The procedure can be performed any day during the week. Your pet needs to be fasted and will spend the day with us. The operation is performed under a full general anaesthetic, with intravenous fluids throughout, and all patients go home with anti-inflammatories and an e-collar postoperatively. For price information, please contact the clinic.

Ultrasounds

Diagnostic Imaging Services

We can provide Radiography, Dental Radiography and Ultrasound to aid in diagnosing your fur-kid's medical condition.

Ultrasound uses ultra sonic waves to view parts of the internal body. It can be a useful diagnostic tool in identifying disease, such as neoplasia(cancer), or in pregnancy confirmation. Generally an ultrasound can be performed on a conscious animal, without the need for an anaesthetic. This technology can also assist in diagnosis of certain aliments, without the need for invasive surgery. If you would like further information on ultrasound procedures, please contact the clinic.

Microchipping

A microchip is your pet's permanent form of identification. The tiny chip (about the size of a grain of rice) contains a unique identification number that is linked to your address and contact information on a national integrated registry. The vets at the Hinterland Veterinary Surgery have the necessary microchipping qualification and can implant your cat or dog with a microchip.
Queensland state law insists that all cats and dogs are to be microchipped before 12 weeks of age. At Hinterland Vet Surgery, we use backhome microchips, with registration included with the company Australasian Animal Registry.
